Mind and Body Pain Care Course Series PART 2

This course will teach you skills that will help you not only self-manage but improve your persistent health issues and take back your life. Most people believe that pain is a simple mechanism: an unpleasant stimulus triggers a pain impulse that is directly sent to the brain.  While this is true in broad strokes, there are a multitude of processes that influence what sensation the brain receives and how it interprets it. You will learn mind and body self-care techniques that have good scientific evidence to reduce pain and improve your quality of life. They include pain neuroscience education to understand your pain, mind and body awareness, gentle exercise, pacing and various other techniques to promote a healthier life.

The course is broken into two parts (Part 1 and 2). We will meet every Wednesday for 2 hours and each part will run for 4 straight weeks. The cost is $85 per course ($170 for both). Courses will be limited to 12 participants, so I would encourage you to sign up early to reserve a space. Introductory courses are also offered free of charge, so you can get a better feel if the course is right for you.

Part 1 (4 weeks):

  • Provides the base skills to get you started on the road to recovery

  • You can just take Part 1, but it is encouraged to finish Part 2 as well. Research shows that greater benefits occur with an 8-week program.

Part 2 (4 weeks):

  • Builds on the skills and information provided in Part 1.

Schedule: Wednesday classes either at 9-11 AM or 6:15-8:15 PM depending on interest

Courses will be held at Rocky Mountain Rehabilitation, 711 N Tejon St, Colorado Springs
